Yoga classes in Sri Lanka: what they cost

Classes run in the rooftop shala. One hour, all levels, and you can turn up on the day. The schedule changes week to week, so Instagram has the current times.

WhatPrice
Vinyasa class, 60 min3,000 LKR
Yoga and Brunch6,000 LKR
Cacao and Sound Healing Journey, 75 min5,000 LKR

Yoga and Brunch runs on the days a class runs, and needs no booking. The Cacao and Sound Healing Journey does need booking ahead, by Instagram DM or at reception.

Never done this before

You can just turn up

A drop-in means one class, paid on the day. You do not need to book a block, and you do not need to be staying at the hotel.

Bring nothing

Mats, blocks and straps are here. Wear what you would walk to the beach in. There is water at the top of the stairs.

All levels means all levels

Classes are taught to the room. If it is your first, say so when you arrive and you will get the version that works. It is the thing guests write about most in their reviews: classes that welcome every level of practice, and one who arrived as a relative novice and left feeling supported rather than lost.

Our resident teacher, Amelia Delgado

Born in Spain and with experience teaching yoga across three continents, Amelia is a passionate instructor with diverse and comprehensive training. She specialised in Vinyasa and Yin Yoga in Bali and later travelled to India to deepen her understanding of traditional yoga and meditation. During her time in the birthplace of yoga she studied sound therapy with Tibetan singing bowls under the guidance of a Himalayan master.

Passionate about the philosophy of yoga, Amelia spends her free time exploring the teachings that support this ancient discipline. For her, yoga is a union of body, mind and soul that extends to everything around us, much like the connection felt while surfing, when one becomes one with the ocean.

Amelia teaches as Hacia Samadhi, her own practice name. It is the name on the retreats too.

Cacao and Sound Healing Journey

Amelia also leads a Cacao and Sound Healing Journey, drawing on the same training in Tibetan singing bowls. It runs in the rooftop shala and takes 75 minutes.

5,000 LKR. Unlike a yoga class this one needs booking ahead, by Instagram DM or at reception.

Retreat at Jasper

Alongside the classes, the shala is given over to retreats. The Wild Sri Lanka Wellness Retreat is a seven-day programme run by Amelia under her practice name, Hacia Samadhi.

Days blend yoga, pranayama and surf with sound healing, massage and a national park safari. There is a meditation workshop led by a Buddhist monk, temple visits, breathwork with an ice bath, and grounding ceremonies. Practice is in the rooftop shala morning and evening, and Hiriketiya Bay is a two minute walk when you want the water.

It is a small group. Jasper House has twelve rooms, so the dates run one at a time. Places are limited, so ask us and we will put you in touch with Amelia.

Tell us when you can travel and we will let you know what is coming. If you teach and want to bring your own group here, that is a different conversation and we are glad to have it.

Staying here

Most people who practise with us are staying in the building. Twelve rooms, six of them open-air, a rock pool, and the bay two minutes down the lane.

If you want to read what a slower week here actually looks like before you book, we wrote about it: a quiet yoga retreat in Sri Lanka.
